Finno Exergy CTO Fabio Ciccateri Speaks at Slush
Finno Exergy was invited by Shell to take part in the 2025 New Energy Challenge (NEC) Finals at Slush. During the final event on Wednesday, 19 November, our CTO, Fabio Ciccateri, took the stage as an NEC alumnus to share insights from the four-year collaboration with Shell.
“After the NEC 2020, we upgraded our prototype test unit and demonstrated a 20% efficiency gain at small scale. Since then, we have continued our development within the Shell GameChanger programme. The programme helped us build the technical and commercial foundation needed to engage with OEMs, highlighting the importance of validation, certification, and independent safety assessments.
It also gave us a clearer understanding of the market and potential applications. Initially, our focus was mainly on smaller gas turbines, with some interest in aviation. Through GameChanger, we were able to sharpen our focus on the most suitable early applications—those that are both technically accessible and commercially attractive.
Following the programme, we held joint discussions with Shell and turbine OEMs, and we have recently launched a new collaboration and feasibility study to retrofit our technology on a 10 MW gas turbine system.”
